I’m running for Lehi City Council because I believe our city deserves leaders who are connected to the people, compassionate, and committed to serving—not just managing. I’m passionate about preserving what makes Lehi special. As a mom of five, I know how important it is to maintain a family friendly city where residents feel safe, supported, and heard.
I value transparency, integrity, and creative solutions. My background in healthcare has taught me to listen carefully, act with empathy, and advocate Boldly when needed. I’ll bring that same mindset to the council.
Let’s work together to build a Lehi that serves everyone—now and in the future. I’d be honored to earn your support.

SERVICE
-
Volunteer Coach
Whether it’s at the Lehi Legacy Center, NUCS, or with a homeschool group, Rachel loves to pass on her love for the game.
-
Team Parent
Rachel has spent countless hours as team parent, fundraising and concessions coordinator, film specialist, and parent liaison for multiple sports teams for her children. An especially memorable time was her 4 years volunteering with Skyridge volleyball.
-
Pass It On
Rachel believes empathy and understanding are powerful tools for the next generation. She loves to teach her children to see the world from other’s perspectives through service such as volunteering to deliver meals, with Lifting Hands, visiting the homeless and refugees. Here, she won “Cop for a Day” for her family at a service auction. It was a wonderfully eye opening experience as to the service and care Lehi City Police have for our community.
-
Medical Mission
Rachel and her husband, Eric, have devoted their lives to helping others as health care providers. Eric cares for patients with chronic pain while Rachel volunteers her time as a nurse practitioner at the free clinic for uninsured UT County residents. Rachel was first inspired by the nurses who comforted her as a young child under the blaring lights of the operating table with promises of popsicles when she was involved in a bad accident.
MY VISION
My vision for Lehi includes being true to the voice of existing residents, prioritizing balanced growth over sprawl, and protecting our parks and access to natural resources that makes Utah so special.
Growth is inevitable and a signal that Lehi is a desirable location, but we need to listen to existing residents’ needs when it comes to infrastructure, safety, and education. In taking care of the present, we will be better prepared for the future. Balanced growth leads to systems that will be thoughtful, helpful, and increase safety and beauty of our city. Having adequate streets, sidewalks, a pedestrian bridge for school children over Timpanogos Highways, adequate number of police and firefighters is the first step. We will be the city that listens to existing residents, collaborates with neighboring cities, and chooses stable, long-term solutions so that we can have success now, and in the future.
Lehi is a leader in Utah’s economy and is uniquely situated to influence both Salt Lake and Utah County. It has outpaced the expected growth for 2025 and is a hub for technology, healthcare, and education. However, we still want to benefit from the beauty and nature of living in Utah. Access to adequate walking and biking routes, mountain bike trails on Traverse, community parks, and Utah Lake must be preserved over development—to help us be a more connected and healthy community.
My background as a mother, nurse, and service-oriented citizen, has given me the skills needed to be the voice for people and advocate for citizens of Lehi. We have unique challenges in a unique time, but I believe we are up for the climb together. I take community seriously, I am passionate about people, and I want to keep Lehi a great place to live. I am asking for your support as a Lehi City Council Candidate so that we can build and maintain a LEHI that we are all proud to call “Home.”
My story
I was born in Provo, UT, to Daniel and Tamara Oswald. My mother is a 4th generation Utahn. My father is a first generation U.S. citizen, originally from Switzerland, who came here as a foreign exchange student and fell in love with a girl from Utah.
I grew up at my grandpa’s knee, and it seemed time stopped as his piercing blue eyes twinkled every time he saw us grandkids. Even though he was a busy small business owner, optometrist, and deputy chief of staff for the governor, he made time to read us stories—a favorite being “The Little Engine That Could.” That was his message to us from an early age: that we could do anything as long as we tried so hard. Sunday dinners were spent at grandma and grandpa’s house discussing politics—or rather where I listened to the discussions—because if I had something to say I had to have a source and it couldn’t be “my teacher said.”
This is where my love for history and my country grew. I learned it was a duty to serve. That with great opportunity came great responsibility. And I saw this from example. My grandpa had fought in WW2, and sacrificed at the peak of his career to serve as state senator and later as a mission president. I saw what it meant to rise up and serve whenever I was able.
Time has long passed since I sat with my grandpa in his big leather chair and pocket of M&Ms, but the lessons learned have been a driving force in my life. I knew I wanted to help people and understand our world better and so graduated in both history and nursing. I have since devoted my life to service, to making the world a better place and to understanding my fellow men. I truly believe where great opportunity is given, greater responsibility is placed to do good.
And so here I am. Ready to step up and do my part: to be a strong voice for the residents of Lehi. I am here to represent. I am here to serve, I am here to lead by example, I am here for you, Lehi.
