My Story

I was born in Provo, Utah. My mother is a 4th generation Utahn of pioneer stock. My father is a first generation U.S. citizen, originally from Switzerland, who came here as a foreign exchange student and fell in love with Utah.

Family has always been important to me. I grew up at my grandpa’s knee and it seemed to us grandkids like time stopped and we were the most important thing in the world to him whenever we visited. Even though he was a small business owner, optometrist, and deputy chief of staff for the governor, he always made time to read us stories in his big leather chair, with M&Ms that would magically appear from his pocket. A favorite story, “The Little Engine That Could”, was his message to us from an early age: we could do anything as long as we worked hard.

Sunday dinners were spent at grandma and grandpa’s house discussing politics—or rather listening to the discussions—because if I had something to say I had to have a source and it couldn’t be “my teacher said.” This is where my love for history and my country grew. This is where I learned that with great opportunity, came great responsibility. My grandpa had fought in WW2, and sacrificed at the peak of his career to serve as state senator and later as a mission president. I saw what it meant to rise up and serve.

Time has long passed since I sat with my grandpa, but the lessons learned have been a driving force in my life. I knew I wanted to help people and understand our world better and so I graduated in both history and nursing. I have since devoted my life to service, to making the world a better place, and to understanding my fellow men. I truly believe where great opportunity is given, greater responsibility is placed to do good.

And so here I am. Ready to step up and do my part: to be a strong voice for the residents of Lehi. I am here to represent. I am here to serve. I am here to lead by example. I am here for you, Lehi.
